- Can you treat for mice or rats? We no longer treat for mice or rats. That was an item we had to stop treating for when we lowered our price to $10 a month. We do offer free consultations on how to take care of rodent problems. It is much easier and cleaner than people expect.
- For $10 it seems like your membership is too cheap to work: I agree it seems that way. But people probably said the same thing about alarm companies when they started offering monthly monitoring for $10 a month. That price inspired us to develop the same membership for pest control. For 6-12 months we researched developing a membership that could be $10 a month and still be just as effective as before when we were $33 a month. Part of the inspiration also came from the slowing economy. Just remember that our membership is cheap enough without a contract that it doesn't hurt to try us out, even for a few days.
- I have a brown recluse problem. Can you help? Yes, we can help with brown recluse problems. Each home is a custom problem that requires a specialized treatment. These treatments usually take about a day and cost roughly $200-$400. They will be needed every 3-6 months.
- How safe are the products you use? The products we use are so safe you can eat them. Several years ago the FDA and EPA created a list of products that are food but also have pesticide benefits. This is referred to as the 25b list by the EPA. The products must be 100% food based. That means that Ecosafe is more than green or natural, we're edible!
- How safe is your pest control for my kids/pets? The only possible danger is a food allergy. The products we use have thyme, peppermint, cloves, rosemary, and other wintergreen oils. We have not had any problems with tree nut or peanut allergies.
- How come your service is monthly? Do you have a quarterly service? We chose monthly pest control because our products are food based which means they break down after 30-45 days. To keep your home protected we must treat it monthly. The weather and the amount of insects here in Tennessee require the monthly service.
- How come you do not require a contract? By not requiring contracts our customers train us to give excellent service every time. We know you have the ability to cancel service at any time and that keeps us on our toes.
- My exterminator is already organic, why would I switch to you? For two reasons. The first reason is that your exterminator probably isn't organic. They have probably used terms such as "all natural", or that they have "gone green". That is as safe as walking into the woods and eating unknown plants and berries. Until they ONLY use products that are so safe you can eat them, they are not organic. If they are willing to eat their product in front of you, then it's safe. I end up eating our product about once a week in front of people. And no, it does not taste good. The second reason is that we are almost definitely much cheaper. The average exterminator costs $200-$300 a year. Our membership is $120 a year.
- How well do your products kill insects? This is one of our favorite questions. There are plants that naturally defend themselves against insects. Just ask any gardener and they will tell you that cloves, thyme, and rosemary never have any insect problems. Ecosmart developed a series of products that utilize oils from these plants. Combined with certain wintergreen oils a synergy is created that will kill any invertebrate, but the products only last for a short amount of time. The other amazing fact about these oils is that for the past 100 years there has not been even one case of immunity with insects. That means that these oils have successfully killed insects for the last 100 years without diminished effects. What worked 20 years ago still works today. Man-made chemicals have to be rotated so that insects do not build up resistance.
- If you treated my house how long will it take for the insects to go away? Once the insect comes in contact with our products it takes about 24 hours for them to die. Most homes see immediate relief in that time frame. Heavier infestations may take 2-3 days or additional visits. These additional visits are free.
- Does your membership keep bugs out of my home? Our products do not repel insects. For a few days after the treatment they insects may be agitated by the aroma of the wintergreen oils, but the main objective is to kill the insects and not repel them.
- Have you heard of osage orange/hedge apples and do they work? Yes we have heard of them and yes they work, kind of. In the studies we have seen and done ourselves they successfully repel spiders 75% of the time. It is unknown what species they work on and how much of an area they cover. Usually it is suggested to have one per room. Our studies have also shown little if any effect on brown recluse.
- I have fire ants in my yard, can you help? Yes, we can treat the fire ants in the yard for an additional fee. It is included in the membership if they are entering your home.
- Are flea & tick coverage included in your membership? No, fleas and ticks are not covered in our membership, but we can successfully treat your property for these pests.
- Can you help with moles? No, we do not offer a mole service. We do have some excellent information we can give you that will help you control moles yourself very easily. The information is free of course. Also, please do not hire anyone to apply grub control to your yard for the elimination of moles. It is barely ever successful because moles prefer earthworms.
- Do you take credit cards? Yes, we accept all major credit cards including American Express. There is a $1.00 surcharge per month of service for Silver customers, and a $2.00 surcharge per month of service for Gold customers. For all other services a 3.5% surcharge is added for credit card use. There is no surcharge if you mail your payment or leave it out for us when we complete your treatment.
- Is there a late fee if I can't pay immediately? Yes, after 14 days there is a 10% late fee based on your balance due. Because our prices are so cheap we cannot afford to allow a customer to have a balance due for more than 14 days. Our silver membership is cheaper than having pizza delivered.
- Can you automatically charge my credit card each time you treat? Yes, we can absolutely do that. Because the amount is so low it is easy to forget. The charge will show up within a few days of being treated each month.
- How do I know someone treated my home if I am not here to see it? Fortunately, our treatment leaves a strong wintergreen fragrance. If you cannot smell that fragrance around your home then you were not treated. We also leave a small invoice/door hanger to let you know we were there.
- I need the inside treated, does that cost extra? Inside treatments are free. Although, if we feel that the free treatments are being abused, we reserve the right to cancel the membership.
